ENCOURAGEMENT. Do your best & God will do the rest is the understatement of the year. After a rough week at work, this thought came to me when trying to think of words that would encourage my team. It was almost a relief to hear the words out loud. It's permission to not carry the burden of the situation, but focus on the mission.
What I know is that no matter how hard I try to appease, placate, soothe, or explain something to someone, especially when they don't want to listen, there is nothing more I can do. It's during that moment of failure (in my own heart and mind) that I wonder if I can't make a difference who can? As a woman of faith, I know that God can in all aspects of my life - work, home, and relationships.
In leadership development, encouragement is a way to bring a light to someone's life. We become the messengers of hope and courage to lead the people we care about. Encouraging leadership is a process that focuses on the individual's strength and contributions in order to drive their motivation and performance to a higher level (leadchangegroup.com)
If you reverse the saying, God will do the rest if I do my best, is a great relief. For me, it is knowing that I don't have to worry, fret, or lament on how to reverse the situation or conversation. Some will listen and some will not. I may not be able to get them to respond how I want them to, but if I do my best maybe they will at least attempt to listen. I would consider it a win-win.
On the other hand is a lose-lose situation. Can we change that result? Maybe, but only by the grace of God.
