ASPIRATIONS.

ASPIRATIONS. By definition "a hope or ambition of achieving something."

This week I experienced the results of an ambition. On International Women's Day 2022, my small business (a hobby per se) became an LLC. For me, that is the seal of approval. The legitimization of a dream. What started as weekly blogs to give me a voice is a small business now. www.whatshesaid2020.com

It's not for recognition, but an opportunity to teach, share, inspire, and encourage women and men in leadership development. While it's a hobby, it's also a passion. Leadership development is what drives me to lead, to continue education, to share thoughts, and to instruct others.

In medicine, aspiration is defined as "the action or process of drawing breath." While this may be a physical action, for me it's a metaphor that gives me life when writing, sharing, teaching, and believing in others as well as myself. Having aspirations is not a negative ambition, but what Sugar Ray Leonard would call opportunities.

"Within our dreams and aspirations, we find opportunities" ~ Sugar Ray Leonard

In an article on LinkedIn, Ken Gosnell wrote The 4 Aspirations of a Great Leader.

He broke it down into four categories that included,

1) FINISH - Complete Worthwhile Tasks.

2) AWARENESS - Take Advantage of Opportunities.

3) GROWTH - Get Better Every Day at Something.

4) LEADERSHIP - Be a Person Worth Following.

Under his last point, Gosnell stated, "Be a leader that is remembered. Have deep convictions and core values that shape every decision. Care deeply about causes and the people that you lead. Be a person of passion. Be an example. Blaze a path so that others can follow and lead to a place of significance, not just a place of success"

As in every citation, I encourage you to read the full article for your personal leadership development. (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/secret-leadership-traits-aspiring-ken-gosnell-afc/)

Aspirations come from a place of inspiration. I went to see Pretty Woman the Musical this week and the line I keep hearing over and over is "[Welcome to Hollywood] What's your dream?

Today, my 4 steps for you are 1) Dream; 2) Have Faith; 3) Make a Plan; 4) Follow It.

Women - Celebrate our International Unity [2022]

Men - Recognize and promote women in leadership.

Everyone - Be BOLD and step out in faith to believe in you.

Let aspirations become your inspiration.
