What She Said, LLC

a different perspective on leadership development and organizational management

About Me

Growing up the oldest of seven children, my four brothers and two sisters thought I was bossy. In fact, they nicknamed me "Bossy Bev" or "Battling Bev" as I either told them what to do or was their defender when they got in trouble. From an early age, I was a natural born leader either by nature or nurture.

I learned soft skills like responsibility, integrity, trust, and many others from hard working parents and extended family that lived in our neighborhood or what I lovingly called "the compound." We lived in a culturally-diverse, non-segregated, close-knit community in the north end of Salina, KS.

It was this rich heritage that propelled me into the world of nonprofit management. Working in the nonprofit field for over 40 years, leadership has been vital in all follower-leader relationships either with superiors or subordinates. Instead of those monikers, my leadership style encourages a team approach.

Therefore,

  • I believe each team member has value.

  • I believe that everyone has a voice at the table.

  • I believe everyone should be heard and we should listen.

  • I believe in learning leadership skills for personal growth.

  • I believe in a leadership style that others want to follow.

  • I believe in organizational capacity building so organizations thrive.

As a woman of faith, Jesus was the perfect example of servant leadership. I consider myself both a servant leader (by nurture) and an authentic leader (by nature).

As an educated woman, I believe in the power of knowledge and completed my doctorate degree (EdD) in Ethical Leadership, my Masters in Organizational Leadership (MOL), and my Bachelors in Organizational Management (BA).

As a wife, mother, and grandmother, I believe in the love of family, the nurturing of individualism, the adoration of each one, and the acceptance of others who become friends like family.

I am Dr. Beverly Baker Peterson with a different perspective

on leadership development and nonprofit management.

Beverly
